You can explore Topiks and set up your feed without creating an account. Here's how article selection, spoiler protection and subscriptions work.
Getting to know Topiks
What is Topiks?
A personal news feed for TV, movies and video games. You pick the topics you're interested in, and we bring together articles about them from different publishers. You can then adjust what you receive to suit you.
What topics can I follow?
TV shows, movies, actors, directors, studios and streaming platforms. For gaming, you can follow games, franchises, studios, platforms and events, as well as esports teams, players and leagues. These are the areas we're focusing on for now.
Can I try Topiks without an account?
Yes. You can pick your first topics, choose the kinds of news you want and browse the resulting feed. You'll need an account to access it on other devices and use the detailed settings. Your choices are saved for seven days in the browser where you set up your feed.
Which languages does Topiks support?
The app is available in English and French. For articles, you can choose English, French or both for your feed. Articles stay in their original language. We don't translate them.
What if I can't find the show or game I'm looking for?
You can follow topics in our catalogue, but you can't add new ones yourself yet. If a title is missing, let us know on Discord or email [email protected]. If you can find the topic but there are no articles about it, the publishers we follow may not have covered it recently.
Your news feed
Can I choose what kind of news I get about a topic?
Yes. Following a show doesn't mean you have to read everything about it. You might want new season announcements and trailers, for example, but skip reviews or fan theories. You can make these choices for your whole feed or adjust them for individual topics.
How do you choose articles for my feed, and how can I adjust it?
We take into account the topics you follow, the kinds of news you've chosen, your publisher preferences and how recently articles were published. Every article comes with an explanation of why it's in your feed. From the article, you can ask for more or less coverage by telling us what you like or dislike about it, whether that's the topic, the kind of news or the publisher. For example, you can get fewer reviews of a show while keeping up with its other news.
Can I discover topics I don't already follow?
Yes. Turn on discovery in your feed and we'll add articles about other topics. You choose how much room to give them. You can follow the ones you like, set others aside for a while or exclude them from discovery. Discovery is off by default, so your feed only contains articles about topics you follow. You can turn it off again at any time to go back to that.
How does Topiks avoid showing the same news over and over?
When several publishers report the same news, we try to group their articles so you only see one in your feed. The article also shows which other publishers covered the story. When you read or hide an article, the other versions in that group disappear from your feed too. Reviews and analysis that offer different perspectives can still appear separately.

Articles and publishers
Where do the articles come from, and can I choose which publishers I see?
Articles come from publishers covering TV, movies and video games in English and French. We always show the publisher's name. You can give each one more or less room in your feed, or hide any you no longer want to read.
Can I add a website or import my RSS feeds?
We already follow more than 200 publishers. You can't add a website or import RSS feeds yourself. If there's a site or RSS feed you'd like us to include, let's talk on Discord or by email at [email protected].
Where do I read the articles, and does my subscription include paywalled content?
You'll see the headline and an excerpt in your feed, then open the full article on the publisher's website. A Topiks subscription doesn't give you access to a publisher's subscriber-only articles. We label articles we detect as paywalled, and you can choose to hide them. If you already have access to a publisher, you can tell us so you keep getting their articles.
Spoilers
How does spoiler protection work?
Tell us where you are in your shows, which movies you've seen and which esports matches you've watched. If we detect spoilers for something you haven't seen yet, the article stays in your feed, but its headline, excerpt and image are hidden. If you haven't told us your progress, we hide articles we detect as containing spoilers just in case. You can reveal an article whenever you like without changing your progress, or turn protection off in the settings.
What does spoiler protection cover, and what are its limits?
For TV shows, protection is based on the last episode you've watched. For movies, just tell us whether you've seen them. For esports, we use the matches you've watched in supported tournaments. Protection doesn't cover video game storylines. Detection is automatic, so it can get things wrong or miss a spoiler. Protection only works within Topiks. Once you're on a publisher's website, we can't hide anything you read there.

Your trial and subscription
How does the free trial work?
You get 15 days free, starting when you create your first saved feed on your account. No credit card needed. You get one personalized feed and can follow up to 100 topics. At the end of the trial, you can subscribe to keep using it. The trial never turns into a paid subscription or charges you automatically.
How much does Topiks cost?
A subscription costs €3 a month or €24 a year, before tax. You'll see the total, including any applicable taxes, before you confirm payment. Your account has one personalized feed, and you can follow up to 1,000 topics. Your subscription renews monthly or annually, depending on your choice, until you cancel.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes, in your account settings. You'll keep access until the end of the month or year you've already paid for, and your subscription won't renew. If you change your mind before then, you can undo the cancellation.

Your account and data
Are there ads, and do you sell my data?
No. Subscriptions fund Topiks. We don't show ads in the service, and we don't sell or rent out your personal data.
What data do you keep about me?
Your email address and the information needed to sign you in, along with your feed, followed topics and settings. We also keep the progress you share with us, your feedback and which articles you've read so your feed works as it should. We use technical data to run and secure the service. Stripe handles all payments. Your card number and security code go straight to Stripe without passing through Topiks. We never see or store them.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Email [email protected] to ask us to delete your account and data. We need to keep some billing records to meet our legal obligations.
